Dr. Sunil V Furtado has over 2 decades of experience in Neurosurgery. After specializing in General Surgery, he secured the MCh degree in Neurosurgery from Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum; a national institute under the Central ministry of Science and Technology. He worked for 9 years at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute for Higher Medical Sciences at Whitefield, Bangalore. During his stay, he was actively involved with neuro-oncology projects with the Indian Institute of Science and CSIR and focused on brain tumors and cerebrovascular disorders. He then completed two fellowships in the United States: Cerebrovascular & Skull Base Surgery at Stanford University, California & Endovascular Neurosurgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, New York. These fellowships provided a multimodality approach to managing complex head, neck and brain tumors, integrating skills of operative neurosurgery and radio-interventional neurosurgery. He has over 80 indexed publications and authored chapters.
