The Department of Endocrinology was the first endocrine centre in all of Karnataka. It has the most experienced, nationally and internationally acclaimed endocrinologists providing personalised care in obesity, adolescent problems and growth, dynamic testing for growth, adrenal and precocious puberty and pituitary diabetes education led by IDF trained educators.The department is equipped with modern facilities and expertise to treat all kinds of endocrine cases. The department has been treating very complex endocrine disorders referred from other endocrine centers in the state and outside.
The common endocrine organs are the pancreas, thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, adrenal, gonads and bone.
Diabetes is an epidemic in India. It is a disorder that requires specialised care to control the disorder with the appropriate medication and lifestyle to prevent other complications of kidney, heart and eye.
Thyroid is another common problem today, which needs very accurate treatment. The thyroid can be both hypo and hyperthyroid, with or without goitre.
The other problems of the endocrine system are irregular periods (PCOS)/absent periods, infertility, erectile dysfunction, these are very treatable disorders however may have a grave impact on the psychological as well as social wellbeing. Stature today is of importance and short stature is a treatable problem if diagnosed and treated early. Other disorders of the endocrine system are pituitary, parathyroid, bone adrenal and gonads.
