Immunohaematology and Blood Bank

The department of Immunohaematology and Blood Bank got licenced by Govt of Karnataka on 4th of December in the year 1996 and has progressed towards the centre of excellance over the years. The Blood bank provides round the clock service towards the requirement of blood and blood products to the needy patients. We have a team of highly qualified and experienced doctors who are specialized in Immunohaematology, Pathology, Stem cell banking and Transfusion Medicine. In the year 2001, the blood bank got upgraded as component preparation centre and in the year 2008, Plasma Pheresis was introduced as an additional facility. In the year 2021, Blood bank got the permission to collect six additional components which included Haematopoietic stem cell collection and preservation. Currently the blood bank has fully automated facility for grouping and cross matching with automated TTI testing facility. The team also provides constant support to the bone marrow transplant unit by providing stem cell collection,cryopreservation and storage facility. During COVID times the Blood Bank provided facilitity for Convalescent Covid Plasma Collection and transfusion. The team actively conducts Voluntary blood donation camps and collects the blood units from voluntary donors across the city of Bangalore.
