The Department of Anesthesiology has been at the fore front of providing quality and evidence based care since its inception in 1985. The department, has to its credit , many firsts in the history of anesthesia services in the state. The department is credited with starting an exclusive Critical Care Facility with 8 ventilator beds in 1996 , which over the years has branched out into a standalone department with over 100 beds. The department was among the first to start a round the clock Labour Analgesia programme in 1998, which has now progressed to a full-fledged and much in demand service. We were also the first to start a dedicated Pain services Clinic catering to all aspects of Acute and Chronic pain management with the advanced facilities for Interventional and Non-Interventional treatment options.
